South Devon College offer online courses designed to provide adults with an opportunity to study in a flexible way.

Key information about online courses:

  • You will be designated a personal tutor who will provide you with advice and guidance, assessment support and feedback.
  • There will be an opportunity to meet your personal tutor face-to-face to introduce you to your course. If you can't make a meeting, you will still be sent the information electronically with a video on how to navigate your course effectively.
  • Online courses are flexible. This means that as long as you meet your deadlines set by your tutor, you can study at any time of day to suit you.
  • Some courses will ask you to meet certain entry requirements. This could be evidence of qualifications or a written piece of work and can be provided via post, scan, email or by visiting us.

This course is aimed at adults wanting to expand their awareness of working or supporting people who suffer from a form of dementia.

During the course you will develop your knowledge of a wide range of issues linked to dementia including behaviours related to dementia, the administration of types of medication and person centred support for service users with dementia.

  • This product allows potential learners to apply for a place on this course. Once this application is received candidates will be asked to complete a written assignment which must be submitted to the required standard before enrolment can take place.
  • Learners who pass the pre-enrolment assignment may have to pay a course fee of £236 if they do not meet the criteria for a free place.

This course is online so an element of computer literacy is a must as well as access to ICT and the internet to support your studies. Your qualification will require you to research and read web based documents and complete online assessments to support you in your achievement of this newly updated NCFE qualification.

The online Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Problems course consists of thirteen units comprising of topics; the history of and an overview of mental health and mental ill health, stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, post-natal depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, dementia and eating disorders, ADHD, OCD and PTSD.

AAT Level One - Access to Accounting (Online Course)

Is this course right for me?

Even if you have no experience of working within the finance sector, our Entry Award in Accounting can give you a real insight into the world of accounting. It’s perfect for young people and those taking their first step on the career ladder. As well as getting a taster of what it’s like to work in a professional environment, you’ll pick up accounting terms and get additional support with literacy and numeracy.

What will I be learning?

You will learn basic accounting principles and practice split into five units covering the following subjects:
• Mathematics for accounting.
• Essential accounting procedures.
• Creating business documents.
• Accounting in a professional environment.

How will I learn?

This is an online course which allows you to work through at a pace that suits you.  The length of time it takes you will be dependent on several factors including previous knowledge and experience of business or finance, and other commitments that you may have.

How will I be assessed?

To demonstrate the skills you have developed during your training, you will be formally assessed by a single 90 minute computer based assessment which is taken on site at South Devon College (Vantage Point campus in Paignton, TQ4 7EJ).

What are the Entry Requirements?

To be successful in this qualification you will need to have good numeracy, literacy and IT skills.

Registering with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

In addition to enrolling with the College for the course, you will need to register separately with the AAT for £40 in order to access further resources and to be able to sit the assessment.  This is your responsibility and needs to be done at the time that you enrol with the College.

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Wellbeing (ONLINE)

NCFE Certificate in Wellbeing - Level 1 (ONLINE)

This free 12 week course aims to increase knowledge of key wellbeing subjects.

This qualification is suitable if you are aged 19 and above, not in compulsory education or not already in funded support. This course is perfect if you have an interest in developing an understanding of your own wellbeing and will also enhance the knowledge and skills of your peer group or others in the workplace.

The qualification is available through the College Moodle pages and provides you with a flexible approach to completing units to suit your individual circumstances. Being free and having online flexibility makes it perfect if you’re already in employment or otherwise currently unemployed and seeking to progress.

  • The importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults
  • Understanding eating disorders
