South Devon College offer online courses designed to provide adults with an opportunity to study in a flexible way.

Key information about online courses:

  • You will be designated a personal tutor who will provide you with advice and guidance, assessment support and feedback.
  • There will be an opportunity to meet your personal tutor face-to-face to introduce you to your course. If you can't make a meeting, you will still be sent the information electronically with a video on how to navigate your course effectively.
  • Online courses are flexible. This means that as long as you meet your deadlines set by your tutor, you can study at any time of day to suit you.
  • Some courses will ask you to meet certain entry requirements. This could be evidence of qualifications or a written piece of work and can be provided via post, scan, email or by visiting us.

The online Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Problems course consists of thirteen units comprising of topics; the history of and an overview of mental health and mental ill health, stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, post-natal depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, dementia and eating disorders, ADHD, OCD and PTSD.

  • This product allows potential learners to apply for a place on this course. Once this application is received candidates will be asked to complete a written assignment which must be submitted to the required standard before enrolment can take place.
  • Learners who pass the pre-enrolment assignment may have to pay a course fee of £235 if they do not meet the criteria for a free place.

This course is online so an element of computer literacy is a must as well as access to ICT and the internet to support your studies.  Your qualification will require you to research and read web based documents and complete online assessments to support you in your achievement of this newly updated NCFE qualification.

Level 4 Award in Salon Management (ONLINE COURSE)

A personal statement will be required and approved by the course tutor before enrolment.

This online course is aimed at Salon owners/managers or future owners working in a salon but not necessarily holding a Hairdressing qualification.

During this 12 week course you will learn how to implement management practices, plan operational objectives and be introduced to marketing planning to improve product and service sales. This course will help you to evaluate your management style and further develop your team's working practices. You will have the opportunity to collaborate through a Padlet Forum with other salon managers/owners to share good practice and reflect on your newly acquired knowledge.

NCFE Certificate in Wellbeing - Level 1 (ONLINE)

This free 12 week course aims to increase knowledge of key wellbeing subjects.

This qualification is suitable if you are aged 19 and above, not in compulsory education or not already in funded support. This course is perfect if you have an interest in developing an understanding of your own wellbeing and will also enhance the knowledge and skills of your peer group or others in the workplace.

The qualification is available through the College Moodle pages and provides you with a flexible approach to completing units to suit your individual circumstances. Being free and having online flexibility makes it perfect if you’re already in employment or otherwise currently unemployed and seeking to progress.

  • Introduction to stress management
  • Developing an awareness of mental health
  • The importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults
  • Understanding eating disorders
  • Weight management and body image
